Unpacking the Release Notes from September and October
October 22, 2021
The Development team has been working hard on new features and product improvements throughout September and October, and have made some exciting updates. We’ve broken down some of the most significant updates from our Release Notes in this article.
Bulk Assessment Details Improved Filtering
New filters are available when using the Bulk Update Assessment Details tab. Users can now filter the assessments by Unit of Competency or Learning Plan Module. Additionally, users can now search for a specific student. This helps to make the process of managing assessments within a class easier and more efficient.
Users can now attempt to re-enrol students into online assessments that were not configured correctly during the original enrolment process. This action can be taken on the enrolment view page. Re-enrolment makes the process of fixing up and reissuing assessment enrolments more streamlined.
Checkboxes in Multi Short Answer Questions
Multi Short Answer questions in Online Assessments now support the addition of Checkboxes, which can be added to the question to allow Learners to modify whether it is checked or not. The addition of checkboxes allows for more creative freedom in the types of assessments that can be authored.
Auto Contract Reconciliation
Organisations that run courses in QLD or VIC that utilise funding can now manage and track funding payments received against each enrolment by simply uploading a spreadsheet of the payments they’ve received from the relevant governing body. The system will detect the amount received and compare it to the amount that is expected based on the Contract Payment Outcome rules and the progression of the student. Contract Loadings can also be set up to automatically adjust the amount that is expected to be received. This feature has been enabled for all Turbo accounts that have at least one class located in QLD or VIC and is accessible via Finance > Contract Reconciliation. Currently only QLD and VIC reporting formats are supported, however we do plan to add more formats in the future. The manual reconciliation feature will remain accessible under the Manual Reconciliation tab on this page. For more information on this feature please refer to our help documentation.
Learning Plans Rolling Enrolment Support
Learning Plans now support rolling enrolments. Clients using Learning Plans can now choose to enrol a student in a different module to start. For example, in a learning plan with 10 modules, if a student is enrolled to start at module 4, they will complete 4-10 and then 1-3. This is to help make the management of learning plan enrolments easier for organisations that run courses where learners can enrol at various stages within the course.
Assessment Management Loading Improvements
Assessments in the Assessment Management page are now loaded as the user scrolls, rather than all at once, leading to significant page performance improvements.
Continually Accessible Lessons
A new Assessment Type setting has been added that allows Learners to indefinitely repeat completed Lessons. Learners who want to go and revisit learning content authored within aXcelerate can now do so whenever they would like.
Organisation Custom Fields
Custom Fields can now be set against Organisations in the system. These fields will be displayed on the Organisation View page and are available as Display Fields and Filters in Course Booking, Transaction & Invoice related Warehoused Reports. Custom Fields give more flexibility to the information that you can store in the system and now this freedom can be extended to Organisation details.
Image Library File Size Increase
The Images Library file size limit has been increased to 2MB. This allows for higher quality images to be used throughout the system for templates, certificates, course content and anything else in the system you might need an image for.
Certificate Validation Stream Names
The ability to include Stream Name on the Certificate Validation page has been added. This is controlled by the 'Display Stream on Certificate Validator' setting that can be set in the Update Qualification page. Those who use the stream name of a qualification to denote the speciality of a course can not show this on a student’s digitally verifiable certificate.
Unit Enrolments Maximum Claim Value
A new field has been added to the Unit Enrolments - Warehoused report that shows the Maximum Claim value of a unit under a contract. This field shows the value of a unit that reaches a competent status and can be used to help forecast the revenue expected to be received from funding.
New Login Experience Improvements
We released the New Login Experience recently, which we have been constantly improving based on feedback we’ve received from the aXcelerate community. Here are some of the main improvements we have made.
Automatic Verification Code Signin
Users are now automatically signed in after entering their verification code retrieved from their email or mobile, removing the need to sign in again as the last step. This should greatly reduce troubleshooting issues with learners using these methods to sign up to their Global Accounts.
Organisation Trading Name
We have added a new Core System Setting for clients to be able to set both their Organisation Trading Name and Organisation Legal Name. The legal name will be used in AVETMISS reports. The trading name will be used in most other situations, including what appears for logged in users under the "My Account" area and both of these fields will be available in templates. At the time of release, both of these values were set to the current organisation name.
Australian Numbers Without Area Code
The new sign in process now accepts Australian mobile phone numbers that do not include the country code (e.g. +61). Users can sign up with mobile and enter their number as '04XX...'. Entering foreign country codes are still supported, but as the vast majority of our users are Australian this significantly helps the signup process for most users signing up with mobile.
We have improved the process of verifying a new email global account by allowing users to simply click a link from their email to verify and log into their account, rather than manually entering a 6-digit code.
Login signup page
We have made improvements to the new login signup page so that users entering an existing email or mobile number will be prompted that the account already exists before entering the verification code. We have also improved the checks for the invite links to notify users sooner that the link they have clicked is expired.
When launching an expired invite link, the user will now be prompted before completing sign-up that the link has expired.
Merge contacts with Global Accounts
We have updated the merge contact feature to allow administrators to specifically choose which Global Accounts to keep when merging users. This also allows users to have more than one Global Account linked to their aXcelerate account.
Global Account security
There will now be a system contact note added whenever a Global Account is linked or unlinked from a contact's user record. If an email account is unlinked for a user record, the email address will receive a notification of the unlinking. This is a security measure to alert the original Global Account user if their access is removed.
