5 opportunities your training business can take to grow in 2022

January 14, 2022

The past couple of years have been tumultuous – full of highs, lows, rapid change and growth. COVID-19 hasn’t made things easy for training organisations, but as we navigate a way out of the pandemic there are many current and emerging opportunities for growth for the VET industry. Here are just 5 things you can take advantage of this year to propel your business growth.

1 – Streamline your training systems

Many training organisations are paying for multiple systems, plus integrations. But, many others have taken advantage of using just one system to manage their entire training business.

Using one training management ecosystem, meaning your Student Management System (SMS) and Learning Management System (LMS) is centralised in one place, equips your business for growth and scalability.

How does a one system training management solution help your business grow?

Save money

It's a no brainer that paying for multiple systems is going to be more expensive than paying for one system that does the same thing, if not better.

Save time

Having both your Student and Learning Management Systems combined in one ecosystem allows for centralisation of information. This saves time with compliance, reporting and many other aspects of student management.

Stay agile

It’s more important now than ever to have online learning capabilities. The volatile nature of the pandemic means that training organisations need to adapt and stay agile – and having a good LMS is the key to doing this. Being able to provide high quality online and blended learning has become more important than ever over the past couple of years, and training organisations need a good LMS to support them to provide this.

Having an LMS that talks directly to your SMS will allow you to keep this agility while managing students and staying compliant with ease.

2 – Take your work-based learning management online

We know that work-based learning creates lasting employment outcomes for students, and that students value gaining practical real-world work experience. Work-based learning also greatly complements the theoretical side of training.

Using paper-based logbooks, and then inputting the information recorded in the logbooks into a digital system is counter-intuitive and time consuming. Digitising the end-to-end management of your work-based learning for your admins, trainers, host employers and students is the future of work placement programs.

aXcelerate’s Work-based Learning (WBL) feature allows you to automate the collection of skills evidence with dedicated WBL apps, all seamlessly connected within the aXcelerate ecosystem.

3 –  Invest in immersive training

While extended reality (XR) isn’t suited to every training business right now, the market for XR technology is predicted to have rapid and strong growth worldwide over the coming decade. This includes headsets, haptic suits and integrations with Learning Management Systems.

XR isn’t limited to education – it’s also predicted to have a major impact on almost every industry and even the way we interact with each other. Read more about the impact of XR here

Figuring out if XR training and assessment is right for your organisation should start with finding the right XR tech provider, and figuring out what you’re trying to achieve for your students. Black6 Labs is one such provider, and they integrate with aXcelerate.

4 – Use social media to showcase and connect

Your online presence matters if you want to attract new students. With around 80% of Australians actively using social media, your training organisation’s brand identity and reputation online is important to manage and develop.

You can use social media to connect with past, present and future students, including showcasing your students' and graduates' achievements.

The main goal of using social media for your training business is to get people thinking and talking about your brand in a positive light. This will in turn aid your organisation’s reputation and encourage more prospective students to train with you.

5 – Leverage your website

The online path to enquiring and enrolling with a training organisation has many touchpoints. One great way to get more prospective students in the pipeline from your website is to use online enrolments paired with a CRM. These are powerful tools that you can use to take enrolments online while collecting key information for compliance and marketing.
